SUNNYVALE, Calif. and YOKNEAM, ISRAEL – May 12, 2009 – Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX), a leading supplier of end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage, and Teranetics, a leading provider of Ethernet PHY technology, today announced availability of the first fully integrated 10GBASE-T Network Interface Card (NIC). The ConnectX® ENt dual-port adapter card for PCIe 2 (up to 5GT/s) delivers high-throughput, low-latency, and high availability with low power to accelerate today’s data center. ConnectX ENt supports leading virtualization acceleration features such as NetQueue and SR-IOV and I/O consolidation fabrics with Data Center Bridging (DCB) fabric enhancements and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). According to Dell’Oro Group, copper-based 10GbE adapter port shipments are expected to grow from 33K in 2008 to 1,5M in 2013.
“Mellanox’s ConnectX EN family of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter cards provides IT managers with interface flexibility, optimal performance and a common software platform to support increasing data center application requirements and IT growth, while maintaining management simplicity and scalability,” said John Monson, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “ConnectX ENt brings power- and cost-optimized UTP (unshielded twisted pair) connectivity for 10 Gigabit Ethernet to mainstream data center servers and storage devices.”
“The combination of Teranetics’ 10GBASE-T PHY technology with Mellanox’s ConnectX solutions provides the most integrated solution on the market,” said Kamal Dalmia, vice president of marketing at Teranetics. “The availability of this adapter card will enable IT managers to deploy 10 Gigabit Ethernet to every server in the data center without the expense of fiber optic cables.”
“10GBASE-T-based solutions present an even more compelling solution for wide-scale data center deployments,” said Mark Foss, director of marketing at Arista. “Arista 7100T switches, together with Mellanox ConnectX ENt 10GBASE-T adapters, provide enterprise customers with 5x improvements in application performance over a 1GbE network, faster access to storage, and reduced cabling complexity of their 10 Gigabit Ethernet deployment.”
Mellanox offers a complete family of ConnectX 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters to support a wide variety of cabling options including UTP, direct-attached SFP+ and CX4 for copper and SR and LR for fiber optics. Mellanox ConnectX EN and ConnectX ENt adapters provide data centers with a rich set of availability, performance and QoS features.
