Mellanox End-to-End FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE Interconnect Solutions Optimized for Forthcoming Intel Romley and Sandy Bridge Platforms

Mellanox server and storage interconnect solutions deliver highest performance and best ROI for deployments based on new Intel platforms

SUNNYVALE, CA. and YOKNEAM, ISRAEL – February 21, 2012 – Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that all of its end-to-end FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40 Gigabit Ethernet interconnect solutions are available today and have been optimized for the forthcoming Intel Romley and Sandy Bridge platforms. Mellanox is the first company to bring to market interconnect technology optimized for the new Intel and PCI Express 3 platform, delivering the fastest bandwidth speeds – 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE – that can optimize a data center’s ROI.

The combination of PCIe 3’s ~60Gb/s throughput and Intel’s new platform will require high-bandwidth interconnect technology. Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE products, optimized for Romley and Sandy Bridge, ensure that servers utilizing Intel’s new platform will be fully utilized and deliver maximum return-on-investment. Mellanox ConnectX®-3 PCI Express 3 FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand adapters and 40GbE NICs, and SwitchX® FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE switch systems are available now and include OEM support from such leading vendors as Dell, HP, and IBM.

“The upcoming Intel Romley and Sandy Bridge technologies and the emergence of PCIe 3 are designed to support higher bandwidth requirements,” said Steve Conway, IDC research vice president for technical computing. “For some data center upgrades this year, 10 Gigabit Ethernet will not be enough. Next-generation data centers will want to exploit the performance potential of FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE. By positioning itself to offer bandwidth up to 56Gb/s, Mellanox aims to address the high bandwidth, low latency needs of this market.”

“Intel’s new platform provides end-users with even greater application performance provided they are connected with interconnects supporting 40Gb/s and above bandwidth speeds,” said Eyal Waldman, chairman, president and CEO of Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40GbE interconnect solutions will ensure IT managers the highest performance and return-on-investment in their data center server and storage upgrades.”
